My name is Reika.
I am a private Japanese language teacher originally from Tokyo, Japan.
I will be delighted to assist you with discovering the joy of learning Japanese language and culture. I take special care to ensure that each learner is comfortable, happy and aware of his or her own progress.
I teach learners of all ages, levels and professions with their individual study goals. I will encourage and support you to speak as much as possible during the lessons in order so that you will be able to quickly become confident in the practical use of Conversational Japanese.
I regularly suggest learning materials that are personalized to best suit individual learners hoping that this helps maximize enjoyment and creates a positive, co-operational learning environment.
Japanese is my first language but as my husband is Moroccan, I use English on the daily bases. Therefore, if requested, I think I have some advantages to guide you to learn Japanese in English.
I teach at our private classrooms in Shinnyurigaoka (5 minutes walk from South Gate) and/or in Shinnjyuku (2 minutes walk from JR Shinnjyuku South Gate) as well as at the locations of your choice in Kanagawa, Tokyo and Saitama.
I have a few hobbies, such as dancing, traveling and fashion, which I hope to share the interest with you. I studied International Liberal Studies at university and have attended internships abroad. I also have stayed in Casablanca in Morocco in order to experience my husband's culture.

Other Types of Lessons and Services:
I am a part of a group of full time Japanese language teachers. We are available for special needs, e.g. Large Group Lessons, Business Japanese Workshops.
We also provide Marketing / Sales Assistance services, Interpretation and Translation services as well as Tour Guide services upon request
I generally use Direct Method in my lessons. As I was born in New York and have been constantly exposed to English language, I can also work with you in English, if requested.
Lesson Style and Structure:
I use communicative approach in my lessons. My teaching style is interactive. In my experience, students who actively participate in a lesson tend to acquire more.
My goal is to teach a lesson in which you are engaged, ask me questions, and solve problems with me.
A 60-minute lesson typically consists of a grammar lesson, speaking and listening practices and new vocabularies, idioms and expressions are introduced throughout the lesson.
A sample 60-minute lesson structure is as followed
0 - 20 minutes:
Catching-up, welcoming general questions and checking homework
20 - 50 minutes:
Reviewing and the new lesson
50 - 60 minutes:
Welcoming questions again
I will focus on improving your speaking, listening and comprehension skills while recognizing that reading and writing tasks are equally important for your speaking and listening progress.
