Brief Description
Seeking a Japanese speaking Technical Consultant who lives in Japan or is interested in living in Japan to work on our small team of senior level consultants to implement our software at Japanese Property and Casualty Insurance Carriers.
Description
The Guidewire Professional Services organization includes business analysts, functional consultants, and technical integration consultants who work together to implement Guidewire applications at customer sites. Our projects are complex and can last from three months to two years depending on the specific customer requirements. During a project, the team will identify customer business requirements, configure the Guidewire application to meet those requirements, and integrate the Guidewire application to other internal or external systems. Guidewire implementation consultants are expected to spend the majority of their time on site with the client business and technical teams.
Technical Consultant will live in Tokyo and will work with our Japanese customers.
Guidewire applications are highly configurable to the requirements of each client, and require a thorough understanding of the objectives and requirements of the client.
Key activities for technical integration consultants include:
partnering with client business teams to understand business objectives and integration requirements
developing an overall integration architecture for the client
producing technical design documents for integration programs
estimating the effort required to build necessary integration programs
working with the Guidewire development team to further develop our integration adapters and other integration mechanisms
developing custom integration programs to connect Guidewire applications with other internal and external systems
coaching and mentoring customer team members working on integration programs
planning integration testing and performance testing of customer solutions
supporting execution of integration tests, including monitoring software incidents and communicating software issues to Guidewire development
These roles represent Guidewire Software to our customer. The successful technical integration consultant is expected to work side by side with our customers while making sure that Guidewire product management is kept abreast of product strengths and weaknesses. The position requires a unique blend of technical expertise, design skills, programming skills, and customer-facing skills.
Individuals can join the Guidewire technical consulting career path on different levels. All technical consultants are required to have integration programming skills and a proven track record of working on demanding software projects to be accepted as Senior Technical Integration Consultants. At higher levels, technical consultants may be hired as Integration Architects or Senior Integration Architects, or may be promoted internally to those levels. Integration Architects and Senior Integration Architects must have demonstrated skills in designing integration architectures, solving challenging technical problems, and leading technical teams successfully.
Required skills/experience - all:
Professional consulting experience or equivalent business experience in a technical role (minimum of 3 years for Sr. Technical Integration Consultant)
Expertise in a modern programming language (Java preferred)
Experience with multi-tier web applications
Ability to work successfully with client team members
Strong oral and written communication skills
Experience in full-lifecycle software implementation projects
Experience developing technical specifications and implementing those specifications through a combination of custom programming and product configuration
Demonstrated ability to design, program, test, and deploy complicated integration software
Ability to work with engineers to review technical designs and participate in code reviews
Flexible, enthusiastic approach to work including a strong desire to learn about new applications and a new business domain
Required skills/experience - Integration Architect/Senior Integration Architect
5 years' relevant experience (10 years for Senior Integration Architect)
Demonstrated track record as a consulting team lead or a technical lead
Experience coaching and mentoring teammates
Understanding of technical design approaches
Desired skills/experience:
Background at a major consulting firm working with Fortune 500 customers
Prior experience with configurable software such as Peoplesoft, Siebel, or SAP
Knowledge of policy, billing, or claim processes within an insurance company
Experience with Scrum or other Agile development methodologies
